Glue

Glue me down, into the seams
My hands are warm, my head is clean
Nectar in my coffee bleeds,
into my milky way
I lean

Stalactites, and all my might
My back grows deep into my seat
My feet grow close to eastern seas
I pushed through you,
you pushed through me

But I am not empty yet
you have not taken all of me
Taciturn, burning words
sylvan and silver like the trees

So I’ll sing for the wind and for the stars
I’ll sing to the light and to the dark
I’ll sing to the moon and to the dusk and
I’ll stop singing for you
but for my heart

Dissolve into blue, soft leaves,
Stand on stolen land and breath
Liquorice all sorts don’t say what I mean
The shape of your name,
my chin on your sleeve

Break all of the bones in my right hand
propel into the weeds, my hair melts to sand
A teaspoon of honey, the banksia tree,
my guitar before I sleep

And I am not empty yet and
you have not taken all of me
Taciturn, burning words
sylvan and silver like the trees

So I’ll be strong for the wind and for the stars
I’ll be strong for the light and for the dark
I’ll be strong for the moon and for the dusk and
I’ll stop being strong for you
but for my heart
